SEOUL WEEKEND UPDATE (Aug 6 - 9)

Curated by GSTV — Your algorithm could never.

We hope y’all stay safe and hydrated during this crazy heatwave! Don’t catch a cold either, ha! This is peak Seoul Summer: Pool parties, the free beach in Gwanghwamun, the stream you can stand in at Cheonggyecheon, Man City clubhouse in Seongsu and so much more.

You definitely want to try out a few (if not all haha) of the event happening this week. These are where summer memories are created and cherished. For real.

ONGOING
🖼️ CULTURAL EVENTS & ART EXHIBITIONS

MAN CITY HOUSE BY PUMA (Seongsu)
Until Aug 9 | 11 AM – 8 PM | Scène, Seongsu | Free
Manchester City returns to Korea, and PUMA builds them a clubhouse in Seongsu. Exclusive City x PUMA merch, City-inspired nail art, fan activations, and cocktails from Manchester's own Schofield's, blended with Korean touches. It only runs through Sunday, timed to City's matches against the K League All-Stars and Atlético at Seoul World Cup Stadium. Free to enter, and a must for anyone in sky blue.

SEOUL SUMMER BEACH + CHEONGGYECHEON WATER SPLASH (Gwanghwamun)
Until Aug 9 | Gwanghwamun & Cheonggyecheon | Free
Both of downtown's free water escapes close Sunday. Gwanghwamun's pop-up beach has the pool, slide, and sand zone (swimsuit and cap required), while a 120-meter stretch of Cheonggyecheon lets you wade straight into the stream to cool off. Peak heatwave, last weekend, no ticket. Bring water shoes for the riverbed.

WE ARE MARTIN PARR (Nowon)
Through Oct 18 | Seoul Museum of Photography | Free
The first large-scale Asian retrospective of the late Magnum great, over 500 photographs spanning fifty years of Martin Parr's wry, saturated take on modern life. It is a trip north to Chang-dong, but it is free, and it is a proper museum show rather than a photo-op pop-up.

K-BOOK TO THE WORLD (Seocho)
Through Oct 6 | National Library of Korea | Free
A free exhibition tracing how Korean books and stories travel beyond the peninsula, from translation to global fandom. A quiet, air-conditioned detour in Seocho for anyone who wants their weekend culture without a queue or a cover charge.

THURSDAY - JAZZ, AFRO & ONE LAST DANCE 🐕‍🦺

  • LIM SANGJIN TRIO: LIVE JAZZ (Itaewon)
    8 PM - Late | Casa Corona | Free
The Lim Sangjin Trio, together for over a decade, bring an intimate night of acoustic jazz to the Casa Corona rooftop. Piano, brushed drums, and upright bass move through standards, originals, and loose reworks of songs you already know, with DJ sets from Better and Jade either side. A proper live jazz on a summer rooftop evening.

  • MAJINONLINE: BRUK RAW (Itaewon)
    10 PM – 5 AM | Bolero | ₩15,000

MAJINONLINE treat music as one continuous flow rather than a set of genres, and BRUK RAW is the proof: Caribbean-rooted rhythms, African sounds, UK bass, and global club, woven together all night. Fakedeeplee, Zion, and a deep local crew run it from ten to five at Bolero.

  • DOBERMAN: ONE LAST NIGHT (pH-1) (Cheongdam)
10 PM – Late | Lion Super Club | Tickets in bio or at door

The party crew Doberman closes its 2026 run with a finale, and hands the last night to pH-1, the H1GHR MUSIC mainstay behind Nerdy Love and Cupid. Melodic rap, R&B, and the kind of sing-along energy that turns a set into a memory at Lion. The crew swears this really is the last one, which is exactly why it will go off.

FRIDAY - WINE FIRST, RAVE LATER 🍷

  • FLUORESCENT ADOLESCENT (Hongdae)
    6:30 PM - Late | Club FF | ₩35,000 (Door)

Five bands, one night, no filler. Club FF lines up Aeil, Riff, Default, Bigongjeong, and Natasha for a run through alternative, indie, and modern rock from half six onward. Door sales only, cash at the venue, and the queue starts an hour before. If your Friday needs guitars and a sweaty room rather than a DJ booth, this is where to point yourself.

  • YEMINHAM HAUS: READING PARTY (Yeonnam)
    7 PM – 11 PM | Yeminham Haus | ₩20,000 (+2 wine)

The reading party returns: no rules, no pressure, just a book, a couple of glasses of wine, and a slow summer evening in good company. Read your own thing, strike up a conversation, or quietly unwind in the corner, whatever the night calls for. Two glasses of wines are included and the room stays cosy. The gentlest possible way to open a Friday before the rest of the city gets loud.

  • KORE: FRENCH NIGHT AT DANK YARD (Haebangchon)
    7 PM – 9 PM | Dank Yard | Registration (Luma)

Third edition of KORE's New Spot Fridays, and this one goes full frenchy inside one of Seoul's better craft beer bars. Practice French and Korean over two exceptional local brews, including the award-winning Bois Haebangchon, with an exclusive FR/KR playlist and a loose marinière dress code. No pressure and all levels are welcome, so turn up with whatever you have.

  • THE PRIVILEGED NIGHT WITH PERRIER-JOUËT (Itaewon)
    7 PM – 10 PM | Mondrian Seoul, Privilege | ₩99,000 (pre-book)

Two hours of free-flow Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut and white wine on the Mondrian rooftop, with the whole Seoul skyline going gold behind you. Chicken wings and fries come with it, plus a welcome cocktail and a blind tasting at nine that wins you a signature cocktail if you call it right. Golden hour, champagne, and a terrace worth dressing for.

  • UNBORN SOUNDS: STAMPED (AYA & FRIENDS) (Itaewon)
    10 PM – 6 AM | Bolero | ₩20,000

Unborn Sounds team up with US Afro collective STAMPED for their first-ever event in Asia, and it is a full night of nothing but Afro music: afrobeats, amapiano, afro house, gqom, 3-step, and afro fusion. Aya leads a stacked international and local cast including Ligrye and Austen, running to six in the morning. A rare, deep dive into a sound Seoul does not get at this scale often. Come to dance!!

  • CHILLING CITY (Seongsu)
    8 PM – 2 AM | Undercity | Free (1 drink min)

Trade the dancefloor for a sofa. Undercity and Chilling turn the Seongsu basement into a salon where the point is staying put: curated live-set films, shisha, and long conversations, under Tom Dixon lightning with none of the peak-time pressure. Runs every Friday this month, so it is the reliable slow option when the rest of the city is shouting.

  • CITY VACATION: TOO HOT TO DRESS (Itaewon)
    10 PM – Late | Grain Haus | ₩20,000

Crazy title lol. Hotbox drags the heat of a Jeju beach back into the city with a vacation-mode night at Grain. The dress code is, essentially, as little as the weather allows, and the music matches: Skiida, Roots x Ghostex and Sera keep a hot, holiday-leaning floor moving until late. A summer-party fantasy without the flight, for when the club is the only beach you'll reach this weekend.

  • EASTERN UNION: UNDERGROUND POP (Itaewon)
    10 PM – Late | Cakeshop | ₩20,000

Eastern Union fills Cakeshop with a live-heavy night at the weirder, poppier edge of the underground. Kirin, 0siggy, and Fresh Air all play live sets before a DJ cast including Ginsengpurrp carries it late. For anyone who likes their pop loud and played in a proper basement rather than a radio edit.

  • SPITFIRE VOL.2: BASSAGONG (Itaewon)
    10 PM – Late | Shape Seoul | ₩20,000 (Door)

Shape hands Friday to Bassagong, whose free-flowing delivery and gut-punch storytelling make him one of the more commanding live rappers around. A live set backed by a DJ lineup including Uglyduck and PYO, in the tight Itaewon basement where you feel every bar. If you want Korean hip-hop up close and loud rather than in a festival field, this is the best spot.

  • INITIAL MUSIC: YUUKI YOSHIYAMA (Cheongdam)
    11 PM – 6 AM | Lion Super Club | ₩30,000

Japan's Yuuki Yoshiyama, the "Tech Maestro" active since 1996, brings his fluid blend of tech house, house, and techno to Lion. The only Japanese DJ to play EDC Las Vegas and a Tomorrowland 2025 debut, he has shared stages with Eric Prydz, Fisher, and Meduza, and off the decks runs EDC Japan. A proper international tech-house night in Gangnam, running till six in the morning.

SATURDAY - ROOFTOPS, POOLS & PAPERBACKS 🏊

  • KAHI x PROJECT120130: BUKCHON MORNING RAVE (Bukchon) 8 AM – 10:30 AM | KAHI YLESS Bukchon | Free (RSVP)

A rave at eight in the morning, in a hanok neighbourhood, for free, and with more caviar (no cap)! KAHI's 20th Bukchon morning rave runs DJ Minji and more, close across a four-speaker room and a silent-disco zone. Free caviar cake, coffee, and tteokbokki, plus colour analysis and an optional Y2K dress code with prizes for the best five. Sober, sweaty, and wholesome. RSVP early, it fills fast.

  • OBJKTT: ROOFTOP GRAND OPENING (Myeongdong)
    4 PM – 11 PM | Objktt | Free

A week after its anniversary, the Myeongdong record bar formally opens its reworked rooftop, and it is stacking seven DJs across seven hours to do it. DJs like Shlemba, Oldshoes, and more start while it is still light and run it into the night, four and five floors up over Myeongdong. Good records, a cool breeze. Easily the most relaxed and elevated way to spend a hot Saturday evening.

  • POOL-UP PARTY VOL.1 (Yangjae)
    4 PM – 11 PM | Villa De Miss Yoon | ₩30,000

A pool party for everyone who never made it out of the city, pitched hard on value: unlimited Jägermeister, flexible entry, and a tight hundred-person cap so it never turns into a crush. A seven-DJ lineup keeps the deck moving from four till eleven on a Gangnam rooftop. Cheap, fresh, and a lot of fun.

  • LST: NEON POOL PARTY (Shuttle from Jamsil)
5:30 PM shuttle – 11 PM | Private pool | RSVP in bio

Summer Escape vol.3, and the concept is worth the trip: a private pool at sunset with the DJ booth floating in the middle of the water, then blacklight and glow paint once it gets dark. DJ MAX and DJ FLACKO play poolside, with a Finnish sauna, hinoki bath, and cabanas alongside. Dress code is neon, fluorescent, or white so you actually glow. Shuttle leaves Jamsil at 5:30 sharp and drops back at Jamsil, Sadang, or Hapjeong.

  • CROWN B x DEEPER: POOL PARTY (Itaewon)
    6:30 PM – 10:30 PM | Hamilton Hotel Pool | 19+

Bar Crown B and Deeper take over the Itaewon Hamilton Hotel pool for a hip-hop pool party as the sun drops. Four DJs, street food from Sinju Bros and friends, and an easy, no-attitude crowd that welcomes everyone once you are past nineteen. Poolside hip-hop in the middle of Itaewon is about as summer as a Saturday gets. Get there for the early-evening light before it fills up.

  • QUIET DISCO BOOK CLUB: BOOKMARK IN LOVE (Seoul Forest) 7 PM – 9:30 PM | About the Chapter | Sign up in bio

Chapter two of a book club built around love this time. Bring a book that holds a line about love, any kind, and share it over gentle conversation and an acoustic set from a live band. No need to have finished it; one sentence that moved you is enough. Capped at twenty so it stays intimate. A soft, warm-hearted Saturday for readers, tucked in behind Seoul Forest.

  • 448 MIDSUMMER MADNESS (Noksapyeong)
    8 PM – 2 AM | 448 by Southside | Free

One of the noksapyeong's better-kept secrets: cocktail bar 448 puts DJs out on the patio and lets the night build itself. People gather with drinks in hand, drifting between deep conversation and dancing while the bar pours amazing cocktails. No pretense, no guest list, just a warm corner of Noksapyeong that welcomes anyone who wanders around.

  • FFF SAMGAKJI: MUSIC SELECTION (Samgakji)
    9:30 PM – 12:30 AM | FFF | Free

FFF, the little friends' hideout in Samgakji, runs one of its weekly live-and-art music nights with DJ Seunghagy making his debut behind the decks alongside moeuv. Three hours of selections in a warm, low-key room built for hanging out rather than going hard. If clubbing is not in your plans, you might want to go for this one instead.

  • XXIT VOL.2 (Itaewon)
    10 PM – Late | SHAPE & LOFT | ₩10,000 (before 12)

The brand TIXX takes over two floors for its second “XXIT” event, each with its own mood. Rapper DBO plays live up in SHAPE on the third floor, while R&B artist SUL takes LOFT on the second, with a deep DJ cast filling both. Early-bird tickets through the TIXX app get you in for ten thousand before midnight. Two scenes, one building, and a wide range of sounds.

  • SOAP: BRING IT BACK VOL.3 (feat. MIKI) (Itaewon)
    10 PM – 5 AM | SOAP Seoul | ₩20,000 (+1 drink)

The reason to pull up: Miki! The French-Korean singer, just dropped her debut album Industry Plant as she is becoming the most exciting new voices in French pop. Nonchalant delivery, writing that is raw and funny in the same breath, and hooks that stick for days. She takes the decks at SOAP's throwback night, digging the tracks you grew up with. If you do not know her yet, you will.

  • LUKA: DARK ENERGY NIGHT (FREE TEQUILA) (Sinsa)
    11 PM – 7 AM | Luka | ₩15,000

Not a place to take photos, in Luka's own words, but to sweat and lose it. Hard techno and hardcore till sunrise, with special guest XIA and a closing Pennywize x Katapii B2B hardcore set, plus thirty minutes of free tequila from half eleven. Dress code is all black, and wearing it gets you two more free shots.

SUNDAY - DAWN DISCOS & LAST SWIMS 🌆

  • GOOD MORNING DISCO: 1ST ANNIVERSARY (Itaewon)
    6 AM – 12 PM | Kamar | Walk-in

Yes, a disco that starts at six in the morning! Good Morning Disco and Sundazed Club mark a year of turning ordinary mornings into dancefloors. A Special matcha menu will be here to refresh you as well as a cold muksabal to keep you upright. Sunrise, records, and coffee instead of cocktails. The most wholesome and most unhinged way to open a Sunday, somehow at the same time.

  • SHIEOM SHIEOM MORNING: GWANGJIN BRIDGE (Gwangjin)
    7 AM – 10:30 AM | Gwangnaru Bicycle Park | Free

The second and final edition: walk or run a car-free 2km round trip across Gwangjin Bridge, no race, no rankings, no reservation. Free yoga and photo spots along the way, starting at seven to beat the heat. A rare, quiet way to have a Han River bridge to yourself on a Sunday morning.

  • UNDERCITY FLEA MARKET: RACK & RHYTHM (Seongsu)
    1 PM – 7 PM | Undercity | Free

A flea market with a soundtrack. The second Rack & Rhythm fills the Undercity basement with racks of vintage and secondhand pieces from sellers who run their own brands, paired with music curated by the venue. Reuse over waste, good finds over new tags, and a relaxed Sunday afternoon of digging through clothes while the DJs play.

  • YEMINHAM HAUS: ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASS (Yeonnam)
    2:30 PM – 5 PM | Yeminham Haus | ₩40,000 (+1 drink)

Spend a calm Sunday afternoon making something with your hands. This beginner-friendly acrylic painting class walks you through the whole process, canvas prep to final brushstroke, with a warm drink and easy conversation along the way. No experience needed and all materials provided; just bring an idea. A gentle, creative reset in Yeonnam before the week starts again.

  • TRACES OF THE NIGHT (Sangsu)
    8 PM – Late | Rockzip | ₩25,000

Ethan Kim's music diary lands three bands in a tiny second-floor bar by Sangsu Station for a night of loud, cathartic rock. PAKK brings post-rock heaviness and a Korean shamanic tension. Dark, romantic, and far bigger than the room. This is the kind of intense, up-close live show that stays with you for a while.

THAT’S THE WRAP

A weekend that opens with pH-1 and closes with a sunrise disco and a run across the river. Only in this city.

The summer pop-ups are packing up on Sunday, so grab the beach, the stream, and the Man City House while they are still standing.

Go somewhere you've never been before!
