SEOUL WEEKEND UPDATE (Aug 20 - 23)

Powered by GSTV — the plans your friends take credit for.

Have you guys ever been to a party in a convenient store with DJs?? I thought so… 😎

Jim Beam is launching its Pineapple Highball and turning the GS25 Hongdae Club Branch into an actual club for the night. We're also heading to AIMFEST, where Grammy winner David YUNGIN Kim gets Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone to build a song live on stage, start to finish.

Beyond that, August is going out on a high note, and plenty of it happens well before dark. There's a free English-guided art walk down to the Han River that ends with you making a mother-of-pearl mirror, a handmade craft market in Yeonhui all weekend, German beer and French wine on the same Friday night, and a barre class under a galaxy projector.

FEATURED EVENT OF THE WEEK
🍍 JIM BEAM x GS25 DJ PARTY

They turned a convenience store into a club, and we're going to be there for all of it. To launch the new Jim Beam Pineapple Highball, the GS25 Hongdae Club Branch becomes a proper dancefloor for one night only, with six of the city's best behind the decks.

Pineapple highballs, a GS25 you can actually rave in, and a lineup that would hold its own in any Itaewon basement. Free entry, all night, no ticket, no list. This is the most Seoul thing happening this week and we wouldn't miss it.

🖼️ CULTURAL EVENTS & ART EXHIBITIONS

AIMFEST 2026 SEOUL (Hyehwa)
Sat–Sun | Two days | ₩120,000 (2-day pass)
The big one, and we'll be there. Three-time Grammy-winning engineer and producer David YUNGIN Kim brings AIMFEST back for a second year, and it is not a concert. Day 1 puts Jay Park, Cha Cha Malone and YUNGIN on one stage building a track live from the first sound to the final mix bus, which is a thing you basically never get to watch. Day 2 is panel talks with music industry professionals from Korea and worldwide. If you make music, want to, or just want to understand how a record actually comes together, this is the most valuable ticket in the city this weekend.

SEOUL, SINGING WITH THE WORLD (Namsan / Yeouido / Cheonggyecheon)
Aug 21–23, 6 PM | Three locations | Free
The city turns three of its landmarks into open-air stages, and it moves each night: Namsan Palgak Plaza on Friday, Yeouido Hangang Park on Saturday, Cheonggyecheon Plaza on Sunday. A cappella, K-Gagok choirs, K-pop singalongs and traditional gugak, all with audience participation and foreign-language commentary. Free, outdoors, and genuinely designed for everyone to join in rather than just watch.

SEOCHO HAN RIVER ART TOUR (Banpo)
Aug 20–22, 5 PM | Express Bus Terminal → Banpo | Free
A free English-guided art walk from Express Bus Terminal down to Banpo Hangang Park, taking in the Wonder Street public art exhibition, the 24 Hours of Seoul mural and a Picasso mural along the way. Each session ends with a craft workshop making a mother-of-pearl hand mirror or painting a fan. Docent-led in English, which makes it a rare properly accessible one. Book through the form.

KAWS: FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS (Magok)
Through Dec 27 | Space K Seoul | ₩8,000
KAWS never needed an introduction here. COMPANION already took over Seokchon Lake, the Squid Game collab followed, and K-pop stars were collecting him well before that. This is his first solo museum show in Korea, and it's 20 new paintings and sculptures putting CHUM, COMPANION and ACCOMPLICE in a light you haven't seen.

YEONHUI HANDS MARKET x DEATH SEWING CLUB (Yeonhui)
Aug 22 – 23 | Yeonhui Market | Free
A weekend-long celebration of handmade, run with the brilliantly named Death Sewing Club. Craft artists fill Yeonhui Market with pieces made entirely by hand, and it's the middle chapter of the market's August run. Free to wander across both days, and a lovely slow contrast to everything else on this list. Yeonhui is worth the walk on its own.

YANGJAECHEON MOONLIGHT NIGHT RUN ⏳(Yangjae)
Fri Aug 28, evening | Yangjaecheon & Yeouicheon | Free (Register now)
Not this weekend, but registration just opened and it's first come, first served for 300 spots, so move. Seoul City and the 7979 Running Crew launch a 5.8km night run along the Yangjaecheon and Yeouicheon waterfront, with a sauna themethat is very funny and very committed: everyone gets a sauna locker key souvenir and a mini sheep-head towel headband. Finishers get a local business coupon for the shops along Yangjaecheon-gil.

THURSDAY - TRAP, TASTINGS & UNFINISHED THINGS 🐋

  • SEOUL X: WORKS IN PROGRESS (Haebangchon)
    7 PM – 9 PM | Sayu Wellness Cafe | 1 drink order

A night for unfinished things. Writing, drawing, planning, creating, thinking… whatever you've been circling for weeks, bring it and finally get it done, with other people doing exactly the same in the room. That's the whole concept and it's a good one. One drink to enter, DM to join. The most quietly productive way to open a weekend.

  • MATCHA & OLIVE: WINE TASTING & ADMIN NIGHT (Yeonnam) 7:30 PM – Late | Jahwasang | ₩39,000

The tax filing. The pension claim. The content you never edited. This starts with a four-course Korean traditional liquor tasting on a private rooftop, hosted by Riche Inc. founder Yooran Keum, then the laptops come out and the room gets to work. The pitch is sharp: the woman next to you already filed hers and has the accountant's number. Women-focused, very limited seats, no time limit.

  • COCOBARRE: SUMMER NIGHT UNDER THE STARS (Gangdong) 7 PM | Cocobarre | ₩30,000

Ninety minutes built entirely around slowing down. A signature barre class to wake the body up, then healing time under a galaxy projector with wave sounds and aromatherapy and lymph release, finishing with tea, traditional sweets and a "heart post office" where the room swaps advice and reassurance. Black dress code, training clothes. Genuinely lovely, and nothing else this week looks like it.

  • DIMO REX: METAMORPHOSIS PRE-RELEASE (Itaewon)
    10 PM – 4 AM | SOAP Seoul | ₩25,000

Dimo Rex previews METAMORPHOSIS before release in the SOAP basement, with Monolankeys along and a deep bench including SKIIDA and Fallens running it to four. Getting a record early, loud, in a room built for it. Door tickets only.

  • VIBE COHORT: KEITH APE (Cheongdam)
    10 PM – 4 AM | Lion Super Club | ₩25,000 (+2 drinks)

Night one of Trap Vibe Week, three nights with no breaks. Keith Ape headlines with Bryan Chase and KG, backed by a nine-deep DJ bench including Ugly Duck, Andow and Skiida. Two drinks come with the ticket. If you only catch one night of the run, the man who put Korean trap on the global map is a fair place to start.

FRIDAY - PARTY IN A CONVENIENCE STORE?! 🍍

  • YEMINHAM HAUS: GERMAN NIGHT (Yeonnam)
    7 PM – 11 PM | Yeminham Haus | ₩10,000

Yeminham's first ever German night, and the formula they've perfected: house music, home-party atmosphere, easy conversation and new faces. There's German beer and a platter to share, and you can drop in whenever suits across the four hours. Whether you're German, were German-adjacent for a semester, or just like the culture, everyone's welcome. Prost.

  • KORE: FRENCH WINE TASTING (Yeonnam)
7 PM | AUCARBET | RSVP (Link in bio)

Second edition after the first one filled fast. KORE takes over AUCARBET, a Yeonnam wine bar run by French-Korean owner Florent, for a French-Korean language exchange built around forty-odd exclusively French wines and homemade pairing plates. The clever part: they build a table plan in advance mixing French and Korean speakers, so you never have to do the awkward first-move thing. Welcome drink included, seats very limited.

  • LUCIGANG 1ST SOLO CONCERT: 무한궤도 (Hongdae)
    7:30 PM | Rolling Hall | ₩55,000

Lucigang headlines her first ever solo concert, with BVCKLASH and friends along for it. All standing at Rolling Hall, and the tagline she's run with says plenty about the tone: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. First solo shows tend to be the ones people talk about years later.

  • KWACAMOLEE: THE AXIS EP SHOWCASE (Hongdae)
    8:30 PM | MODECi | ₩20,000

kwacamolee launches their first EP, The Axis, with a release showcase at MODECi. Doors open an hour before. First EPs are exactly the shows people bring up years later when the artist has gotten big, and twenty thousand won for a debut release night is a bargain.

  • KOMPAKT RECORD BAR: JEILYY (Nonhyeon)
    8PM - Late | Kompakt Record Bar ver.2 | Free

Jeilyy takes the ver.2 booth, a Seoul DJ and record collector who's spent years pulling sounds from all over the world into her own library and builds something properly refined out of it. A record bar, a collector playing from the collection, and no cover. The low-key sophisticated Friday option when the clubs feel like too much.

  • TRAP VIBE WEEK: B-FREE (Cheongdam)
10 PM – Late | Lion Super Club | See bio

Night two, and it's a heavyweight bill: B-Free, Kwon Ki Baek and Lee Slim Tantan. Three nights, one vibe, no breaks, as they put it. Seoul, we outside.

  • THE ROOF SEOUL: 2ND ANNIVERSARY (Myeongdong)
Friday | The Roof Seoul, 8F & Rooftop | See bio

Two years of nights, and the residents who built them take both floors to celebrate. Nine DJs across the eighth floor and the rooftop, a mix of the people who've held the place down and the friends who kept turning up. They're calling it a party for all, and the whole tone of the post is gratitude rather than hype, which is exactly why it'll be a good one.

  • UNLUCKYME (Itaewon)
    10 PM – Till We Die | Cakeshop | ₩20,000

Built around a Notorious B.I.G. line: where the true players at?, so they gathered some. Five back to back pairings including a DJ debut, a teacher-and-student Jersey club face-off, and a duo who promoted themselves to Chief and Boss with nobody able to argue. The write-up on this one is very funny and the music will be seriously goo

SATURDAY - MORNINGS, MURALS & FREE HIP-HOP ☀️

  • KAHI x PROJECT120130: BUKCHON MORNING RAVE (Bukchon)
    8 AM – 10:30 AM | KAHI YLESS Bukchon | Free (RSVP)

Vol.21, and the lineup this round is a proper one: MINJI opens, then Disco Revolution (Jinwook b2b Radio Revolution) takes the middle hour before CHAE closes. Four-speaker room plus a silent disco zone, and free caviar cake, coffee and tteokbokki, colour analysis, the lot. Dancing at 8AM in a hanok neighbourhood, still free, still excellent.

  • SMCC x YESSTYLE RAVE (Seongsu)
    7 AM – 10 AM | Yesful Land | 1 drink

Seven in the morning, and a beauty showroom becomes a rave. Seoul Morning Coffee Club takes over YesStyle's first offline Seoul showroom for three hours where you browse and test beauty products between songs. Everyone gets a YesStyle goodie bag, plus brand gifts and a lucky draw at the end. Register through the form. Two morning raves on one Saturday is very 2026 Seoul.

  • HOUSE RUNNING CLUB: MORNING RUN AFTER PARTY (Dongdaemun)
    8 AM – 10 AM | Janullim | ₩15,000

A 5km run along Seongbukcheon to close out the summer, then sandwiches, iced filter coffee and a proper DJ set to follow. Capped at ten people, which is the appeal: small, unhurried, and the kind of morning that actually sets up your weekend. Refunds close Aug 19, so decide quickly.

  • 0X3 VOL.1 (Sinchon)
    2 PM – 5:15 PM | Infinity Club | ₩13,000

An all-ages hip-hop showcase, which is genuinely rare here and worth supporting for that reason alone. A long list of young crews and rappers across three hours in a Sinchon basement, in the afternoon so under-19s can actually attend. Cheaper if you book ahead.

  • SEOUL CON HIP-HOP PARTY (Dongdaemun)
    4:30 PM – 9 PM | DDP Oullim Plaza | Free

Free, no booking, and a genuinely stacked bill. The 2026 Summer Seoul Con opens its hip-hop party on the DDP outdoor stage with live sets from Giriboy, Lil Boi, Marv and Kiwon, plus DJs across the afternoon. F&B booths and an influencer flea market alongside. An outdoor hip-hop show of this size costing nothing is rare. Go early, stay for Dongdaemun afterwards.

  • YEONHUI HANDS MARKET x DEATH SEWING CLUB (Yeonhui)
    Sat–Sun | Yeonhui Market | Free

A weekend-long celebration of handmade, run with the brilliantly named Death Sewing Club. Craft artists fill Yeonhui Market with things made entirely by hand, and it's the middle chapter of the market's August run. Free to wander, both days, and a lovely slow contrast to everything else on this list. Yeonhui is worth the walk on its own.

  • DE SCHOOL VOL.8 (Apgujeong)
    6 PM – 2 AM | Lowkey Seoul | See bio

Old school or new school? That's the whole question, and HAGY has assembled ten DJs to argue it out across eight hours. A deep, deliberately mixed bench running from six in the evening straight through to two, so you can come early and stay or drop in whenever. Vol.8 of a series that keeps growing, and the kind of room where the answer ends up being both.

  • 232 SELECTOR FOCUS: AYLA (Itaewon)
    6 PM – 2 AM | 232 | Free

232 hands its Saturday to our dear AYLA, who moves through R&B, house and global sounds and is focusing this set on R&B and jazz house, connecting soulful vocals with fluid grooves. Her window is 9:30pm to 11pm. A very chill Itaewon evening for when a full club night is too much commitment.

  • BEAUTIFUL NOISE CHARITY SHOW (Sinchon)
    7 PM - Late | Honeyclover | ₩20,000

A show where 100% of proceeds go to a children's home. K-pop Burger Magazine gathers artists who signed on with no conditions attached, including Alice U, for a night built on the belief that enjoying music can do something useful. Standing, twenty thousand, and a genuinely easy yes.

  • NIGHT TEMPO: FUTURE FUNK, FUTURE CITY (Euljiro)
    8 PM | Seendosi | ₩35,000 (₩30,000 adv)

Night Tempo returns to Seoul for the first time in a while, straight off a Summer Sonic slot in Japan. The Korean DJ and producer basically defined the future funk and Showa city-pop revival, with remixes of Anri and Miki Matsubara, recent shows alongside Momoko Kikuchi and a collab with Gotō Maki. He's prepared a special setlist for Seoul.

  • ENDLESS BEATS (Dongnimmun)
    9 PM – Late | okba | Free

Hip-hop and jazzy hip-hop in the Dongnimmun hanok, cooling the summer night down. LUKA opens at nine, JUNHOLICA takes over at 10:30 and pushes it deeper. Cold beer, good wine, and popcorn you'll keep reaching for. As they say themselves: instead of dancing, just clink your glasses and let the beats fill the room.

  • LIVING STEREO: KIRIN, ROMANTIC MOOD (Sangsu)
    9 PM – 11 PM | Living Stereo | Free

Kirin brings a vinyl-only romantic mood set to the little Sangsu bar. Two hours, records only, and a title that tells you exactly what you're getting. The quiet, well-chosen alternative to everything else happening on a busy Saturday night.

  • UNBORN SOUNDS: CONNECT YOUR USB VOL.3 (Hongdae)
    10 PM – Late | MODECi | ₩20,000

Unborn Sounds hands peak time to the next generation again. The three winners of CYU Vol.3: Queensturn, Ukkim and Dadaboo, take the booth alongside Ghetto Ray veterans including Kim Han, DJ co.kr and Andow. Backed by Maker's Mark, Spotify and Mixmag Korea. A genuine on-ramp for new DJs, and you get to say you were there first.

SUNDAY - POOLS, VINYL & CITY POP 🏊

  • LA PISCINE ROUND 2 (Itaewon)
    11 AM – 7:30 PM | Mondrian Seoul Rooftop | ₩40,000 (pre-register)

Summer isn't over and neither are they. La Piscine returns to the Mondrian rooftop pool for a full day of sun, music and poolside everything, eight and a half hours of it. Pre-registration gets you in for forty thousand with a drink, versus fifty at the door. Heated pool at 28°C, towels and lockers available, rain or shine. Registration closes Saturday, and tables and sunbeds go first come.

  • NIGHT TEMPO: CITY POP & VINYL FLEA MARKET (Myeongdong)
    2 PM – 6 PM | FUROA Seoul | Free

The other, gentler Night Tempo appearance this weekend. He and Hasegawa Yohei spin city pop through the afternoon while running a vinyl flea market pulled from their own personal collections, which is the real draw. Free entry, four hours, Myeongdong. A properly relaxed way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and you might well come home with something rare.

  • SEOUL, SINGING WITH THE WORLD: FINALE (Cheonggyecheon)
    6 PM – 7 PM | Cheonggyecheon Plaza | Free

The three-day run closes downtown at Cheonggyecheon Plaza. A cappella, K-pop choir and gugak, with the audience expected to join in rather than spectate. Free, outdoors, an hour long, and about as easy as a Sunday evening plan gets.

THAT’S THE WRAP

August is reaching towards its end, and you can feel the city knowing it. The pools are still open, the rooftops are still full, and everyone's moving like there's something to catch before it goes.

So catch it. Watch a song get built from nothing at AIMFEST. Stand in front of a Baselitz. Dance at 7AM with strangers holding iced coffee. Buy something made by hand in Yeonhui and actually use it.

Oh, and come say hi to us at the GS25 on Friday 🍍
